This weekend, Complete Home Solutions had the pleasure of assisting St. James’ Parish and Friendship United Methodist Church in providing needy families with Thanksgiving dinners! What an awesome experience this was! We enjoyed every bit of it, from getting the Turkeys, to putting the food baskets together, to delivering the dinners. Not a piece of it was unappreciated.
To start off, we talked with a few people from the St. James’ Parish Church to find out what we could do for them. The first thing they said they really needed were the turkeys. Of course, the most essential part of the Thanksgiving dinner! We jumped on that opportunity and bought up 25 turkeys for them. We hopped in our truck and rode on over to the church to stuff them in the freezer.
The next big thing the church said they needed were volunteers. They now had the turkeys, and a few local grocery stores donated all the rest of the supplies that they needed, but they needed people to put the food together and help bring them out for the families. Well, we decided to jump on that too! A bunch of us from the office rolled in on Saturday morning, around 7 a.m., rolled up our sleeves, and dove right in.
It was an absolute blast getting to work with all the wonderful people and families that we met there. Every single person there was eager to have a job and to contribute. It was heart-warming to see so many people coming together to help their community. Not only was everyone already devoting their time, but they also kept up a positive attitude, even when things got a little hectic.
At the end of the day, the best part of the whole experience was delivering the dinner bags and seeing the joy and thankfulness on the faces of those families. This was, without a doubt, the best way we could’ve donated our time and resources and we can’t wait until next year when we get to do it again!
