John C. had just moved into his home in Silver Spring, Maryland and he already knew that he had a problem with his attic’s insulation. He did not like the drafty rooms and cold floors, and decided to call up a professional. John had many options and got quotes from lots of different companies. Although there were a few out there who were willing to offer him a lower price, he knew that he wanted a quality job, not a cheap one. After thoroughly examining our references and ratings, John decided that Complete Home Solutions was the company for him.

After performing a Home Energy Audit, we were able to give a thorough explanation as to where the main problem areas were. We made sure that John knew exactly what he was getting. The main upgrades that we needed to make involved air sealing and adding insulation to attic (which he had suspected all along). We constructed an insulation dam around the attic access hatch (which allows for the even and uniform application of additional insulation). This is especially important because the attic opening acts as a “thermal bypass,” basically letting a lot of your “good air” escape. We also used caulk to air seal any open wall cavities that were leaking air. Afterwards, we installed 10” of TruSoft Cellulose insulation, bringing the attic insulation levels to R-49 (the BPI standard for our climate zone).

This client had just purchased a house in Gaithersburg, MD and, like all homeowners should do, had an inspector go through and see what additional work needed to be done. Among a few other things, the inspector found that the crawl space desperately needed insulation. 

On the inspector's recommendation, the new homeowner called in a professional to evaluate the crawl. CHS stepped in as that professional and found that, yes, the crawl space did indeed need insulation, but it also needed a few other things done. Air sealing is always a top priority - we did this by applying closed cell foam insulation on the walls and then installing an EverLast crawl space door. We also had to install a vapor barrier into the crawl space, which is fundamental in preventing moisture from evaporating into the home (which can lead to structural failure, mold/mildew, and electrical issues). 

All of this was very important in assuring that our client would be moving into a healthy and comfortable home. Now that she has taken care of this issue, she is more than excited to start this next chapter in her life in her new home. 

Home for sale in Rockville needed attic insulation upgraded immediately per home inspection report.  Crews finished the work in one day.  The owner couldn't believe how spotless the home was after the upgrades were performed (it had already been staged for home sale so keeping it clean was very important). 

Also the current owner noticed that on recent very hot days, while the thermostat was on 78 degrees - the temperature of the home was showing 73 degrees.  The Air Conditioning wasn't running and he couldn't believe how comfortable the house was.
