Attic Before Being Air Sealed
The attic in this picture is not ideal. There is insulation, but some of it is deteriorated (the parts that have black and gray spots) and there is no air sealing. This is a bad combination that does nothing to protect your house from extreme weather and dirty air.
Air Sealing Attic Penetrations
Even small cavities in your attic can create a lot of air leakage. We seal these up by applying a combination caulk (this technique is pictured here), foam board, and spray foam.
Install SunChuter Radiant Barrier
Installing a radiant barrier (that's the aluminum looking boards you see here) is a great way to reduce heat in the attic, which consequently affects the heat throughout the rest of the house. They work to reflect radiant heat rather than absorbing it.
Spray Foam Air Sealing
Here we have pictured a great air sealing product. Closed cell spray foam is expansive in nature and works to cover the desired area completely while forming an airtight seal.
Blown In Cellulose Insulation
After air sealing, choosing the right kind of insulation is also really important in making your home efficient and comfortable. We installed cellulose insulation here because of its high R-Value and density.
