Attic Before New Insulation Install
This is the attic before we did any work. There's not a whole lot of insulation and no air sealing. This allows for the homeowner's nice, conditioned air to leak out through the attic (not good!).

Here's another angle so you can see what your insulation should not ever look like. All of that discoloration is what happens when too much air is leaking through your attic (this often happens when there's no air sealing to accompany your insulation).
Attic After Cellulose Insulation Install
This is what the attic looks like now that we have treated it. What you can see is all of the TruSoft cellulose insulation that we've applied (bringing insulation levels to R-49). What you can't see is all of the air sealing that we've done for the attic penetrations and floor joist cavities. Both are very important steps for this home!
Attic Hatch Cover
This attic hatch cover acts as a barrier between attic and the conditioned space in the home. This is the final touch to help make sure that no air is leaking through the attic.
Crawl Space Before Air Sealing
The crawl space was the next project that we tackled. As you can see, the old vapor barrier was worn and torn and the insulation was dirty. Neither were helping to protect this house from outside air leaking in.
Crawl Space After Air Sealing
Here is how we transformed the crawl space. We tore out the old insulation. We air sealed the walls by covering them in spray foam insulation. We installed a CleanSpace crawl space liner across the dirt floor. These work together to keep the any outside air from leaking into the home.

This is a dehumidifier that we installed in the crawl space. It also works as an air filtration system. It works keep the spaces humidity levels low (as its name implies), and stop organic growth (like mold/fungi). It is a great install to help lower those air conditioning costs.
This couple in Port Republic, Maryland had known for some time that their house needed to get some weatherization work done. Their house always got hatefully hot in the summertime and horribly cold in the wintertime.
