Crawlspace Encapsulation in Churchton, MD

Old Dirty Crawlspace

Old Dirty Crawlspace

Their old crawlspace had an existing vapor barrier that was a little too thin for our taste. We took out the old barrier and replaced it with a 20 millimeter thick CleanSpace vapor barrier. We also removed the old batt insulation which was mostly old, beat up and falling down.

Now we're talking! The new vapor barrier looks clean and is completely blocking the moisture from rising from the ground into the home. There is one more step left to help fight against humidity...

Dehumidifier Installed

The last step of preparation is to set up a dehumidifier to keep the crawl space at the proper humidity level. We like to keep it between 50-60%. Once you venture out of that range, it will start to feel humid or dry and leave you feeling uncomfortable.

The final step is to spray foam the crawl wall to completely encapsulate the crawl. This stops moisture from seeping through the foundation walls and acts as an insulator to keep your crawlspace close to whatever your interior temperature is.

A Job Well Done

This homeowner had us insulate both his attic and crawlspace. We'll focus on the crawlspace portion of the job here! The homeowner was experiencing cold floors in the winter and humidity in the house during the summer. They live in a moist environment, so humidity runs rampant around him. Encapsulating your crawl is the best way to alleviate these issues, so once our crew arrived on the scene, they went straight into the crawl. Follow as we walk you through a crawlspace encapsulation.
