Untreated Attic Hatch
The attic hatch is a pretty large area and, consequently, can cause you to lose a lot of air. Treating this hatch the way that we did in the next picture can make a huge difference.
Attic Tent Cover
To stop the air from leaking through the attic opening we have installed something called an "attic tent." This is a great product that seals the attic hatch, but also allows the attic to be easily accessed if needed.
Attic Insulation Before the Work
This attic may look okay to you, but it really isn't. First of all, there isn't any air sealing, only this insulation. Without air sealing, insulation only acts as an air filter and doesn't stop the air from leaking through.
Blown-In Cellulose Insulation in Attic
This probably doesn't look like that big of a difference from the previous picture, but believe us...it is! We took out the old insulation (it wasn't working very effectively), air sealed the cavities along the attic floor, and installed our blown-in cellulose insulation (a very dense, effective insulation). Now we have an energy efficient attic that will keep this homeowner comfortable.
Crawl Space Without Any Sealing
Both cold air and moisture can creep up into your house from the crawl space. This crawl space has nothing preventing that from happening, but we can fix that.
Vapor Barrier Installed in Crawl Space
By installing this vapor barrier, we have sealed off the crawl space from outside air trying to leak into the house.
