This homeowner in Charlotte Hall recently had a new room built above the garage for her daughter who was coming back home from college. The issue with that was that the room was unbearably cold. The process is pretty much done how it sounds: we carefully drill holes along the wall in the room and fill the wall with closed cell cellulose insulation. This involved us installing an attic tent over the attic opening, air sealing  attic penetrations (such as top plates, plumbing, ceiling fixtures, etc) with caulking, and installing TruSoft cellulose insulation. In the crawl space we needed to install insulation into the crawl ceiling (where it meets the floor), insulate the ductwork that was located down there, install a vapor barrier, and air seal the rim and band joists with spray foam  sealant. 

We certainly had our work cut out for us, but we know how to get things done here! After we finished making these upgrades to the home's attic and crawl space, the homeowner almost immediately noticed an enormous difference! Following a full home evaluation from one of our trained Home Comfort Specialist, it was determined that the issue was caused by a lack of air movement in the home due to an oversized A/C unit and air handler. Our Home Comfort Specialist conducted the audit and noticed that her ductwork in the attic of the home was not treated, and she had old batt insulation in the attic as well.
